Feeling festive

The icy frost in the mornings set the scene this week as the nursery was transformed into a winter wonderland by our Christmas elves.  The children were memorised by the decorations and it has been lovely to see their reactions when arriving to nursery.  Christmas is such a special time at the nursery and we can really feel the excitement in the air.

In the art room the children played with jelly snow, a fluffy white jelly powder that feels like real snow. It was interesting to see that many of the younger children were initially reluctant to play with the fake snow, which one boy telling me he didn’t want to because he thought it would be too cold. However, once they had a go we couldn’t get them away from the snow table!

Both the younger and preschool children have been busy making a variety of Christmas tree decorations out of pine cones and card.  They’ve also been busy decorating a small Christmas tree which has been a permanent activity in the art room this week. They should now be very well trained to help you get your houses ready for the festive celebrations.

Our nativity rehearsals have been a huge success and our preschool children all seem ready to make their acting debuts on Monday.  Mrs Federici thinks this group of children may be our loudest yet and is sure that they will put on a show to remember.  Many of the children have excitedly told us about their costumes and are clearly looking forward to showing them off on the big day.  There is lots happening on the day with two different performances so please check your emails to make sure you know where your child needs to be and at what time.

The item for next weeks show and tell is something red.
