Barking mad

Chicken children

What a barking mad week we had when the children were visited by lots of different animals.  At the beginning of the week the children met Romeo the Cockapoo, Dot the dog and Bramble the retired racing greyhound.  Mrs Beechey brought in her cat Jasper who was treated to cooked chicken for being well behaved and Miss Natalie’s sister came in with two baby rabbits for the children to hold in assembly.

On Wednesday Ark Farm brought a number of their animals to show the children including a barn owl, albino hedgehog, sugar gliders and chickens.  The children went into the gym in small groups to meet and get close to the animals.  It is always interesting to observe that the younger children are generally more relaxed around the animals than the preschoolers.

This week marks the end of the first half of the term and we are thrilled with the progress made by all of our new starters.  In just seven short weeks all children are settled and confidently come into nursery every day.

We are looking forward to a spooky week next week as part during our halloween holiday club.  The schedule includes a cauldron hunt on the field, bouncy castle games, scooter racing and much more.  For those children coming to their first holiday club please check the confirmation email as the times and routine are different to that of the usual nursery session.

After half term our theme changes to Autumn and our first topic of the week is seasonal changes. The item for show and tell is an autumn leaf.  Should you be out and about please collect some autumn leaves for us and dry them out inside a newspaper.  These are a lovely resource that we will use during our art sessions.
